Dublin City Council needs construction services for the Dodder Greenway Milltown Road - Dodder Walk to Dundrum Road Active Travel Scheme, with a maximum total value of 4,780,000 EUR over 38 months. The project involves enhancing an existing 1.2km stretch of Milltown Road by providing segregated cycle facilities, improved pedestrian facilities (footpath and junction upgrades), ducting, resurfacing, and upgrading two signal-controlled junctions. The scheme also includes site clearance, pavement works, kerbs and footways, traffic islands, public lighting, traffic signs and road markings, drainage works, traffic signals and ducting, utilities upgrades, landscaping and urban realm works, bus shelters (foundation only), bike stands, and temporary traffic management.

    Dublin City Council aims to enhance the quality of life for its residents by developing an integrated Active Travel Network. This comprehensive network is designed to foster connections among individuals via pedestrian pathways, segregated cycle provision, and other environmentally friendly transportation alternatives. The enhancement of accessibility and interconnectivity for people walking, wheeling and cycling within this network is anticipated to play a pivotal role in mitigating carbon emissions originating from transport activities. The council’s objective is to augment the existing 40km network into a seamlessly connected 314km network spanning the entire city. The Dodder Greenway Milltown Road - Dodder walk to Dundrum Road Active Travel Scheme is one of the projects identified under this initiative. The Dodder Greenway Milltown Road - Dodder walk to Dundrum Road Active Travel Scheme extends along Milltown Road between Dodder walk and Dundrum Road for a length of 1.2km. The Scheme includes the provision of segregated cycle facilities, improved pedestrian facilities (footpath and junction upgrades), ducting, resurfacing etc. the scheme also includes the upgrade of two signal-controlled junctions to improve pedestrian and cyclist facilities, the two junctions are: Milltown Rd and Churchtown Rd junction and Milltown Rd and Dundrum Rd junction. The Scheme comprises: - Re-configuration of existing carriageway for inclusion of cycle provision - Site Clearance - Pavement works - Kerbs and Footways - Traffic Islands - Public lighting - Traffic signs and road markings - Drainage works - Traffic signals and Ducting - Utilities upgrades - Landscaping and Urban Realm Works - Bus Shelters (foundation only) - Bike Stands - Temporary Traffic Management Please note that this project is subject to funding.
